Wooden Filing Cabinet
A wooden filing cabinet is an elegant way to keep your important papers well-organized and safe for easy access. Depending on your interior decor, you’ll find cabinets finished in oak, maple, cherry and other woods that will contribute style as well as practicality to your home office or work environment.
The world of file storage furniture has come a long way since the days when your only option for a cabinet was a utilitarian item in gray metal. Modern manufacturers such as HON, Bush or Kathy Ireland produce good-looking cabinets that could grace all kinds of decorating styles and color schemes. Whether you choose real wood or a faux wood effect, you can benefit from the luster of the finish and the attractive appearance of the grain pattern.
Wooden filing furniture can be stained to a light or dark finish according to your preference — and there’s all sorts of looks available, from the light, fresh look of pine to the rich dark appearance of cherry or ebony. These cabinets often come with elegant knobs or handles that can be chosen to match the other items in your room and unify a design theme. And to give your furniture a classically aged look, you can find pieces with a ‘distressed’ finish if that suits your taste.
Wooden cabinets for files can be found in vertical or lateral layouts to meet your needs and with any number of drawers to at least four or five. They are practical as well as handsome items to include in all kinds of locations and situations where efficient document storage needs to blend with stylish interior design.

It seems your interest in filing cabinets is similar to mine in oak furniture. Indeed the different shades and colours available and the wide variety of brass fitting really make this an interesting topic.

Great idea! I think wooden cabinets look much better than metal ones. Makes an office look a lot more homely and less corporate.
There’s something iconic about the metal grey filing cabinet but it always reminds me of Mr. Belding’s office in Saved By The Bell. I bought a beautiful light wood one the other day and although it’s sleek and well designed, it still looks too ‘officey’.
I would like a small filing cabinet for use at home but I definately want a light oak one to fit in with my other furniture. The grey metal ones remind me of my first job many years ago. I was only 16 and the office was very daunting at that age.
